Wish You Were There! Our 35th Annual Humpa Picnic

It was a wonderful time of greeting old and new friends. We enjoyed one of the most beautiful autumn days ever. We participated in a show of our gorgeous autos, feasted on lovingly prepared German specialties and won some great door prizes.

We collected over $700.00 for CT ALS in honor of our friend Marsh Wilson. Marsh’s chalkboard was filled and erased again and again as he shared his opinions with us. He also wowed us with his wheelchair expertise and quick whit. Truly this is a tough journey for Marsh and Andrea. Events like the Humpa Picnic not only give them a lift, but also reveal love, character, perseverance and respect we all share.

Because we were missing those who went to O’Fest early, we greatly appreciated who help with table set up, grilling, serving and clean up. Many Thanks!

Our sponsors were wonderful, too. Tony’s Imported Auto Service provided great Oktoberfest beer. This year both Tony and Victor Oliviera, their families and co-workers shared the day with us. Performance Automotive contributed a complete car care Kit by P21S. Your CVC purchased many doorprizes at Wholesale from Performance Automotive, Inc. Some door prizes were from Previous Events.

For the first time in our memory, we did not see Charlie Rankle, park “keeper”. He retired at age 94. He was so good to us. We missed his participation.

Attendance was awesome. Ninety-five adults and children shared the day! There were more BMWs to view than ever before. There were also many past presidents: Hal Mandley, John Bisset, Bruce Zepke, Jack Jones, Marsh Wilson, Scott Chamberlain, Willy Wiley and I hope I didn’t miss anyone.

We really do wish you were there! Maybe next year 2009 will be your time!
